Gone With The Wind

1. Relate what was discuss in class or in text to the screening.
We just recently watch Gone With The Wind, which was directed by Victor Fleming and George Cukor. This was an historical romance film and it was based off from Margret Mitchell novel in 1936. This film is so popular because it broke down so many barriers. One of the biggest barriers it broke down was the color barrier where African American had a chance to play in a serious role for a film. This movie touches on war, heartbreak, love, race, death, etc. People have debate that this movie is one of the all time favorite love stories.

2. Find a relate article and summarize content:

In this article they talk about the summary of the movie and how this movie effect decades later. They talk about Margret Mitchell and how she came about writing the novel for Gone With The Wind. They say that she wanted to given the southern perspective of what happen in their series of events in the south during that time. They also talk about how this film talked race and how it path the way for the film industry to take African Americans more serious.

3. Apply the article to the film in class.
I like how in the article they talk about how this movie help challenge and change some of the stuff that was going on at that time in the film industry. They talk about what we talk about in class about how you really don’t see any war scene because to an extent that not what the movie is about. The movie is about during and the aftermath of the civil war and how each character in the film is effect by it in their day-to-day lives.

4. Write a critical analysis of the film.
My overall opinion of the film is that I love everything that the film had to offer but I didn’t like the film too much. I think the cast that they had for this movie was great and you can see from watching the film that they work well with one another. I love the editing and the color of the film because you can really see there was an improvement in technology to make for a better appealing film visually. I even love how this film how the film industry in regards to race because from this film it brought the pressure for other director to start taking African American more serious and not just put them in a generic role during the time. The story line I didn’t care for because I wasn’t into the storyline too much. The longer the film went on the harder it was for me to be intrigued with it. I do like that it wasn’t a happy ending because I think during that time it made for a more realistic outcome. I just felt it was so much going on with each character that it was hard to keep up with.
